Second place in Alternate's Competition!

Each team has six competing members and one or two alternates.  The alternates have their own competition where they are placed into teams made up of students from different schools that then work together for the day.

Jason Dovel, the alternate for the Sustainability team, was on the 2nd place team for the Alternate's Competition!

Saturday - Job Fair

Saturday is a huge job fair for the students.  There are over 100 companies here!  Many of our students are getting interviews and offers for internships or full time positions.

Friday - Presentation day

All day Friday all of the teams present their solutions to the industry sponsors.  The presentations are usually 20 minutes plus 10 minutes of question/answer from the judges.  They ask some really hard questions.

I don't have photos of all the teams due to some time overlaps, but here's what I did get....

Thursday = busy work day

Today is the day the students have to hunker down and do a ton of work.  They picked up their problems from the industry sponsors early this morning and are busy putting together estimates, schedules, safety plans, and any other documents their sponsor asks for.  They will be turning in those items between 8pm-11pm tonight and then begin putting together a presentation on their project that will be due first thing tomorrow morning.

No pictures today because faculty aren't allowed to visit the students or talk to them.  I might have a few photos of teams turning things in tonight if I can catch them in action.  Stay tuned....

On the faculty side, we are spending our day meeting with construction company representatives that want to hire our students, catching up with alumni, and attending presentations (and grading assignments).

Tonight's dinner was for about 1600 people.  Afterwards, they do a great raffle for the students.  Boise State's streak for winning prizes continues!

We're here!

We have made it to Reno successfully.  Unfortunately, we had to wait a long time for our room keys, but we made the most of the time.  The teams are getting their rooms set up now.
